Winners of The Danish Folk Music Awards (Best Album 2011), as well as NORD’09the Nordic Folk Music Championship in Sweden in 2009, Habadekuk present traditional Danish music with all the stops out.

Following roaring success at Beverley Festival, Womad, Cambridge and Big Session earlier this year, the incredibly exciting Habadekuk have become synonymous with energetic, entertaining concerts of fresh, fiery, feisty Danish folk music.

"Wonderfully exciting, with superb arrangements that often build to a roar. Music for dancing."  fRoots

"Brilliance, boisterousness, beadth of appeal and sheer bonhomie... an exceptionally brilliant bunch" Folkworld

"I was really impressed by Habadekuk at this year's festival ... they went down really well. I hope that this is the start of things for them in England ."  - Eddie Barcan, Cambridge Folk Festival 2012

They have already wowed audiences at Odense Folk Festival, Spot Festival and Danish Folk Music Awards, as well as at festivals in Poland, Sweden, Finland and Norway, and during their English summer of 2012, they were the band that created the greatest stir amongst audiences.

Started by a group of young folk musicians inspired by La Bottine Souriante who wanted to form a big, new, party band, Habadekuk are rapidly becoming THE young band of the moment - following the success of 2013, 2014 is set to be bigger, better and brassier than ever.

“The idea was to blow some wild folk music into people’s heads” explains Kristian Bugge, the band’s fiddle player and winner of the Danish Folk Artist of the Year.

The vibrant mix of salsa, jazz and folk gives old Danish dance melodies a new lease of life. Powerful horns, toe tapping fiddle and contagious rhythms characterise a band that catapults folk music well into the 21st Century.
